主要從事地幔巖石學(xué)、地球化學(xué)和深部動(dòng)力學(xué)研究。先后主持了國(guó)家973項(xiàng)目、基金委創(chuàng)新群體和國(guó)家杰出青年基金項(xiàng)目、中科院B類先導(dǎo)專項(xiàng)、廣東省基礎(chǔ)與應(yīng)用基礎(chǔ)研究重大項(xiàng)目等,在華北克拉通破壞、峨眉山大火成巖省和地幔柱以及東亞大地幔楔等方面取得創(chuàng)新認(rèn)識(shí)。擔(dān)任國(guó)家基金委重大研究計(jì)劃“地球宜居性的深部驅(qū)動(dòng)機(jī)制”專家組組長(zhǎng)、重大研究計(jì)劃“西太平洋多圈層作用”專家組副組長(zhǎng)。已發(fā)表論文350余篇,其中SCI論文280余篇,主編Lithos和Episodes專集四部;Google Scholar引用27100余次,H-index 87,入選World’s Top 2% Scientists 2020和中國(guó)Top200榜單,連續(xù)8年入選Elsevier高被引中國(guó)學(xué)者名錄。以第一完成人獲國(guó)家自然科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)二等獎(jiǎng)(2011, 2020)、廣東省科學(xué)技術(shù)一等獎(jiǎng)(2006, 2014)、李四光地質(zhì)科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)等。
