? ? ?Ke Zhu, a professor at the China University of Geosciences Wuhan, focuses his research primarily on planetary geochemistry. He is dedicated to high-precision elemental and isotopic analysis of meteorites and samples returned from space missions (such as those from the Moon, Ryugu, and Bennu asteroids), aiming to uncover the origins of Earth, the Moon, Mars, and other terrestrial planets, as well as the early evolutionary history of the solar system.
He earned his Ph.D. in Earth Sciences in 2021 from the Institute de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) in France. He has more than 20 publications, with 13 first-author papers published in Nature-Index journals. He has received several prestigious early-career awards worldwide, including the Humboldt Research Fellowship (Germany, 2020), the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Fellowship (EU, 2023), the JSPS International Fellowship (Japan, 2023), NSFC excellent youth overseas program (China, 2023). In terms of academic service, He serves as an editor role for a Nature portfolio journal Communications Earth & Environment.
? ? ?? ?報告摘要:? ??
? ? ? Meteorites and samples returned from space missions offer invaluable insights into the early evolution of the solar system and the processes involved in planet formation. This presentation highlights the motivation behind conducting chemical analyses of extraterrestrial materials, with a particular focus on chromium (Cr) isotope analysis that can work as a “timer” (53Mn-53Cr dating system) and “fingerprint” (54Cr nucleosynthetic anomalies). The talk will explore three key narratives: 1) the timing of Earth's differentiation, 2) evidence of the oldest volcanic activity in the solar system, and 3) the intriguing phenomenon of a "blue Mars."
